Am I allowed to have a bad day?

I met with a client this morning and she stated that she was not allowed to have a bad day, only good days in regards to her grief.  She noted that there is an expectation for her to be “over it” and to move on from her sadness.  Remember that we are allowed to have bad days.  It is how we move on from our bad days and not allowing them to paralyze us with guilt, sadness, or anger.  Our goal is to keep the bad days to bad moments, not to completely eliminate the possibility of having a bad moment.  It is also important on how we recover from our bad moments.  We must stop them at moments and not let them get to the point where they are unmanageable.  Often times we have unfair expectations of ourselves that leads us down a road of unrealistic goals.  Stay on path, have confidence that this will pass because it is temporary, and remember to have a little fun in your day.
